My fonts have been designed using Highlogic's FontCreator, and were tested on a Windows XP computer. No warranties can be given as to their working on other systems.
I'm sorry to say that...
- ...the pages on this website have increased in size. New images are bigger than the old ones, and a text sample of each font has been added at the bottom of its page.
Creating the text samples in Photoshop, I took advantage of the program's feature to reduce the line distances, to get the texture look that makes the charm of decorative writing. Using the fonts in text programs will naturally make the fixed line distances appear, and produce a much bigger gap. The sample text consists of a quote from a favourite novel of mine, Michail A. Bulgakov's The Master And Margarita -- IMHO a hot candidate for the label of 'best novel ever' --, in the English translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. In most of the samples, the lines have been cropped for shortness; the complete text, however, can be found at the XalTerion page.
- ...I've never been able to keep up with all the mail I got since I published my Jane Austen font. Being no great letter writer at my best of times, I simply wasn't prepared for so much feedback. So, please accept my apologies if you were among those who never got an answer. There was no ill will on my side, and I'll try to mend my ways. My new Conditions of Use page is an attempt to remedy the sad state of things.
- ...doing business certainly never has been, and never will be, my vocation. However, I'm not able to give my fonts away entirely for free. A bit of support to keep the website going is always welcome. I'm aware that the current procedure of selling my fonts for commercial use, is far from perfect; be assured that I'm on the look-out for a better solution.
- ...there's no new Jane Austen font this time. There will be one in the future, I promise.
Saying THANK YOU to ...
- ... my visitors. Above all to those among them who have contributed to the costs of this website by purchasing a commercial license! Your support is greatly appreciated!
- ... Luc Devroye, for his awesome internet work on fonts and font design -- as far as I'm concerned, it's the heart of the font world.
- ... all the free font designers out there -- most of all to Cyba Pee, and Manfred Klein, who has given such an incredible multitude of wonderful, amazing, stunning fonts to the world! There are not words enough to express how much I stand in awe of his skills, and his generosity.
- ... my favourite website on palæography, for lots and lots of entertaining instruction...
- ... revered author Neil Gaiman, for the miracle he worked on my behalf -- one little link in his online journal caused the traffic on my website to sky rocket!
- ... the libraries and institutions that are displaying images of their codices and incunables on the Net :
